El presidente del Gobierno, Mariano Rajoy, ha dejado sentado que sólo gobernará tras las elecciones generales del 20 de diciembre si el PP es la lista más votada y que no contempla hacerlo si no es así, aunque sume mayoría con otras fuerzas.
Ha subrayado que «es lo democrático».
En declaraciones a su llegada a la sede del Congreso del PPE en Madrid, Rajoy ha asegurado que no tiene «la más mínima duda» de que el PSOE tratará de evitar que él llegue a la Moncloa si gana las elecciones.
Ha dicho que «se aliará con cualquiera con tal de que no gobierne la lista más votada», y ha advertido que esos acuerdos «siempre terminan mal».
El presidente ha hecho esta reflexión a raíz del pacto que se prepara en Portugal alrededor de los socialistas y que podría desbancar del Gobierno luso a Passos Coelho.
