El presidente del Gobierno, Mariano Rajoy, ha defendido este lunes el bipartidismo de PP y PSOE que ha estado vigente más de 30 años porque «ha funcionado y puede seguir funcionando en el futuro».

Además, ha reconocido que no se ha explicado bien estos años y que su «principal rival» es él mismo, por lo que en campaña tendrá que «hacer un esfuerzo» para que los españoles que confiaron en él hace cuatro años «vuelvan a hacerlo ahora».

En una entrevista en TVE, recogida por Europa Press, el jefe del Ejecutivo ha admitido que tiene que dedicar las próximas semanas a hacer «pedagogía» para explicar a los ciudadanos lo que han hecho estos cuatro años y que hay que «perseverar» en las mismas políticas.

Sobre un posible pacto con Ciudadanos, no ha querido entrar en posibles acuerdos de futuro, si bien ha señalado que «al final lo importante es el programa».
En este punto, ha dicho que a él lo que le interesa es que continúe una política económica que «ha evitado el rescate» y «hoy» hace que España crezca y cree empleo.

En cuanto a si teme a nuevas informaciones sobre corrupción que puedan afectar al PP, Rajoy ha dicho que «en absoluto» y ha añadido que «salga lo que salga» actuará «igual que hasta ahora» y los jueces contarán con «el total y absoluto apoyo del Gobierno».
Además, ha reconocido una vez más que los casos de corrupción les ha «perjudicado mucho», más que las medidas económicas.
