Málaga 24h TV – Frontex cifra en 13.800 los inmigrantes rescatados en el Mediterráneo

Unos 13.800 inmigrantes fueron rescatados en aguas del Mediterráneo central en la última semana en cerca de 90 operaciones, según el balance ofrecido este lunes por la Agencia Europea de Fronteras.

En un comunicado, Frontex ha indicado que sus barcos y aviones participaron en estas operaciones, salvando casi a 5.000 personas.
Todos los inmigrantes rescatados han sido desembarcados ya en Italia, país que tenían como destino inicial.

Asimismo, ha precisado que la mayoría iban en embarcaciones hinchables, si bien algunos viajaban en botes de madera y pesqueros.

Frontex ha confirmado al menos tres naufragios de embarcaciones de madera, tras los cuales se han recuperado 50 cuerpos y se teme que hay cientos de muertos, según los testimonios de los supervivientes.

El Alto Comisionado de la ONU para los Refugiados (ACNUR) cifró este domingo en 700 los fallecidos estimados.

In a statement, Frontex has indicated that its ships and aircraft participated in these operations, saving almost 5,000 people.
All immigrants have been rescued and landed in Italy, which had as initial destination.

It has also pointed out that most were in inflatable craft, although some traveled in wooden boats and fishing.

Frontex has confirmed at least three wrecks of wooden boats, after which 50 bodies have been recovered and there are fears that hundreds of dead, according to the testimonies of survivors.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) amounted Sunday in the estimated 700 dead.
