La Costa del Sol es el destino turístico con mayor estancia media de la península: los que la visitan se quedan de media casi 4 días y medio, algo que sólo es superado por las Islas Canarias.

Así se observa en los primeros datos oficiales sobre los movimientos turísticos del verano en España, que, según ha destacado la Diputación Provincial a través de un comunicado, confirman las mejores previsiones para la Costa del Sol.

Precisamente aumentar la estancia media del destino es uno de los retos en los que trabaja de forma permanente Turismo Costa del Sol. Por ello, según ha destacado su presidente, Elías Bendodo, las cifras oficiales del inicio de los meses estivales son más que positivas, ya que subir la estancia supone aumentar el gasto del turista en el destino.

Según las cifras recogidas del Instituto Nacional de Estadística, la provincia malagueña lidera tanto el número de viajeros recibidos como de pernoctaciones en las zonas turísticas de España.

Respecto al número de viajeros, la Costa del Sol ha recibido más de medio millón durante el pasado mes de julio, con casi 2,4 millones de pernoctaciones, de las que más de 1,6 millones son de turistas llegados de distintos países. La provincia representa así casi el 38% del total de pernoctaciones que se produjeron en toda la comunidad autónoma.

Todas estas cifras confirman a Málaga como el principal motor turístico de Andalucía.
