El viceprimer ministro turco Veysi Kaynak ha revelado este jueves que el autor del atentado perpetrado la noche de Año Nuevo en la discoteca Reina de Estambul, que dejó 39 muertos y decenas de heridos, podría ser uigur.

En una entrevista concedida a la cadena local A Haber, el ‘número dos’ del Gobierno ha indicado que, conforme a las primeas investigaciones, actuó solo pero podría haber recibido la ayuda de cómplices para prepararlo. Kaynak ha contado además que las autoridades han establecido su posible ubicación.

Interrogado sobre este aspecto, no ha descartado que haya huido a otro país, pero ha confiado en que las operaciones en suelo turco den resultado. La unidad antiterrorista de la Policía de Estambul ha realizado a primera hora del jueves varias detenciones entre la comunidad uigur en Turquía por su presunta implicación en este ataque terrorista, de acuerdo con la agencia de noticias Anatolia.

En 2015, Turquía se enfrentó a China por los supuestos abusos contra los uigures, una etnia de fe islámica ubicada en la región autónoma de Xinjiang, en el noroeste del gigante asiático, a la que los musulmanes turcos se sienten unidos.
