Sobre ella ya pesaba una orden de detención, tras haber sustraído a su propio hijo de un hospital de Málaga, incluso tras haber sido advertida de que si el niño no recibía tratamiento continuado podría fallecer en pocas horas.

Los agentes de la Policía Nacional tuvieron conocimiento, gracias al hospital de Málaga y al servicio de seguridad de la estación de tren de Málaga, de que la mujer viajaba en el AVE Córdoba-Valencia, por lo que desplegaron un dispositivo en la estación de tren de Cuenca, donde había prevista una parada.
