El presidente turco, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ha aprobado la ley para la reforma de la Constitución que allana el camino para el establecimiento de un sistema presidencial en Turquía, según ha informado este viernes su oficina.

En un breve comunicado, la Presidencia ha indicado que la ley ha sido remitida a la oficina del primer ministro para que sea publicada y sometida a referéndum.

Erdogan defiende que la reforma traerá estabilidad en un momento de caos y evitará la vuelta a las coaliciones frágiles del pasado. Sus detractores temen que degenerará en un régimen cada vez más autoritario.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has approved the law for the reform of the constitution that paves the way for the establishment of a presidential system in Turkey, according to his office reported Friday.

In a brief statement, the Presidency has indicated that the law has been forwarded to the prime minister’s office to be published and submitted to a referendum.

Erdogan argues that the reform will bring stability in a time of chaos and prevent the return to the fragile coalitions of the past. His detractors fear he will degenerate into an increasingly authoritarian regime.
