Despiden a los dos responsables de entregar los sobres en los Oscars – Málaga 24h TV –

El histórico error a la hora de proclamar el ganador del Óscar a la mejor película ya ha tenido consecuencias: la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas ha anunciado que los 2 auditores de PricewaterhouseCoopers responsables del error, Brian Cullinan y Martha Ruiz, no volverán a trabajar para ellos. Ambos, veteranos en la empresa, seguirán formando parte de la consultora pero no podrán trabajar para la Academia. La presidenta de la Academia incluso puso en duda su futura relación con la consultora con la que han trabajado durante sus 80 años de historia.

Cullinan, un veterano con 32 años de experiencia y 4 trabajando para los Oscar, era el jefe del equipo de colaboración con la Academia. Su labor era la de tabular los votos y, junto con su compañera de trabajo, entregar los sobres con los nombres de los ganadores durante la ceremonia. Él dio el sobre equivocado a Warren Beatty cuando llegó el momento del último premio, el de mejor película. Ruiz había entregado a Leonardo DiCaprio minutos antes la tarjeta de mejor actriz, que Emma Stone no soltó desde que recibió el Oscar. Cada uno de los dos auditores tenía un juego de sobres, ya que se sitúan en los extremos opuestos del escenario.

Pero Cullinan le entregó a Beatty el sobre equivocado. En lugar de hacerle entrega del sobre de mejor película, donde aparecía el nombre de la cinta ganadora, Moonlight, le dio el de mejor actriz, premio que acababa de ser entregado, donde ponía Emma Stone y La La Land.

PwC asumió horas después de la gala la responsabilidad del cambio de sobre, que calificaron de “error humano”, y que ya ha pasado a llamarse “caso Oscargate”.
