Continúan desvelándose informaciones que revelan las supuestas conexiones del equipo del presidente norteamericano, Donald Trump, con el Kremlin. The Washington Post ha publicado que el actual fiscal general, Jeff Sessions, habló dos veces con el embajador ruso, Sergei Kislyak, en plena campaña electoral. Una de estas conversaciones se celebró en septiembre en la misma oficina del entonces senador Sessions y coincidiendo con el momento más duro del ciberataque del Kremlin al Partido Demócrata.

Sessions negó haber tenido contacto con ningún funcionario ruso “para tratar temas de campaña” y circunscribió sus encuentros a sus tareas como miembro del Comité de Servicios Armados.

Hace tres semanas, una conversación con Kislyak le costó el puesto al consejero de Seguridad Nacional Michael Flynn, hombre de la máxima confianza de Trump.

Se acrecientan así las sospechas de que el ciberataque ruso se efectuase con conocimiento del equipo del multimillonario. Trump lo ha negado con rotundidad y ha desatado una guerra sin cuartel contra los medios que lideran las investigaciones, The Washington Post y The New York Times, a quienes ha llegado a acusar de ser “enemigos del pueblo”.

El FBI y el Senado han decidido abrir sus investigaciones. Pero la implicación de Sessions puede chocar con ellas, al ser el responsable del Departamento de Justicia y del propio FBI. Podría incluso ser interrogado por sus propios agentes.
