38 muertos en un atropello múltiple en Haití (Adv: Imágenes duras) – Málaga 24h TV –

Al menos 38 muertos y 14 heridos graves es el balance preliminar de un accidente ocurrido este domingo en el norte de Haití, cuando un autobús perdió el control y arrolló a varios grupos de músicos callejeros, según ha informado el Servicio Nacional de Ambulancias.

El diario de Puerto Príncipe Le Nouvelliste precisa que los músicos participaban en un carnaval de Cuaresma. El accidente se produjo en la ciudad de Gonaives, capital del Departamento de Artibonito con unos 300.000 habitantes y a unos 150 kilómetros al noroeste de la capital, Puerto Príncipe.

El autobús chocó primero contra dos peatones, mató a uno de ellos e hirió al otro. El conductor trató de huir a toda prisa del lugar, «estaba oscuro» y acabó arrollando a tres grupos de músicos callejeros. Según Faustin Joseph, coordinador de Protección Civil del departamento de Artibonito, vecinos del lugar intentaron incendiar el vehículo «con los pasajeros dentro», pero lo impidió la Policía local. El autobús, el conductor y los pasajeros están bajo custodia policial.

At least 38 people were killed and 14 others seriously wounded, according to a report from the National Ambulance Service, a preliminary report of an accident in northern Haiti, when a bus lost control and wounded several groups of street musicians.

The newspaper of Port-au-Prince Le Nouvelliste specifies that the musicians participated in a carnival of Lent. The accident occurred in the city of Gonaives, capital of the Artibonite Department with about 300,000 inhabitants and about 150 kilometers northwest of the capital Port-au-Prince.

The bus hit first two pedestrians, killed one of them and wounded the other. The driver tried to flee in a hurry, «it was dark» and eventually wound up three groups of street musicians. According to Faustin Joseph, Civil Protection coordinator of Artibonito department, locals tried to burn the vehicle «with passengers inside», but prevented it by the local police. The bus, driver and passengers are in police custody.
