Siete detenidos en Londres y Birmingham por el atentado (reconstrucción del ataque)

Poco a poco vamos sabiendo nuevos detalles del atentado perpetrado en Londres. La policía británica ha confirmado la detención de 7 personas en una operación policial en la ciudad de Birmingham, en pleno centro de Inglaterra, donde fue alquilado el coche empleado como arma por el terrorista que este miércoles asesinó a al menos cuatro personas e hirió a decenas de ellas antes de caer muerto a tiros de la policía.

La principal hipótesis es que el atacante, que habría sido identificado por la policía, estaba «inspirado en el terrorismo internacional islamista», por las indiscutibles similitudes con otros atentados, como el de Niza o Berlín, aunque los investigadores apenas han dado más datos.

Eran poco antes de las 3 de la tarde cuando un hombre sembró el pánico en las inmediaciones del simbólico edificio, atropellando con un todoterreno a numerosos transeúntes que caminaban por la acera del puente de Westminster. Uno de ellos, una mujer que luego tuvo que ser rescatada, acabó cayendo al río, como ven en estas imágenes.

Tras empotrar el vehículo contra la verja del Parlamento, logró acceder a los jardines y apuñalar a un agente antes de ser abatido a tiros.
