El Rey avisa de que «fuera de la ley solo hay arbitrariedad, imposición y negación de libertad»

El Rey Felipe VI ha subrayado este miércoles, en el 40 aniversario de las primeras elecciones democráticas después de la dictadura, que en democracia no puede emprenderse ningún camino que lleve a una «ruptura de la convivencia», que es «el bien más preciado» en una sociedad democrática y que «tiene su mayor garantía y su mejor protección» en la ley.

Según ha advertido,»fuera de la ley, solo hay arbitrariedad, imposición, inseguridad y, en último extremo, la negación misma de la libertad».
Y acto seguido ha recalcado que «la convivencia tiene su mayor garantía y su mejor protección en las normas que la amparan», de manera que «el respeto a esas normas, en democracia, asegura, no es una amenaza o una advertencia para los ciudadanos, sino una defensa de sus derechos».

Las apelaciones al respeto a la ley han sido frecuentes en una conmemoración que coincide con la aceleración del desafío independentista por parte de la Generalitat de Cataluña, aunque el Rey en ningún momento ha aludido a él expresamente.

Sí ha proclamado que la «unidad nacional» española asume la «diversidad territorial de España con orgullo y coherencia» y ha recordado «que la diversidad está en nuestra historia y define nuestra propia identidad nacional; y que los sentimientos se deben respetar y comprender, nunca ignorar, enfrentar o dividir».
