Interior spokesman, David Serrada; the deputy for Malaga, Miguel Angel Heredia, and the spokeswoman of the Mixed Commission of the Ombudsman, María Dolores Galovart, have registered on Tuesday in Congress a battery of parliamentary initiatives addressed to the government to ask for explanations for detaining half a thousand immigrants in the Archidona prison.

The Socialist deputies also consider that «the immigrants who arrive in a boat are not criminals, they are people who flee from misery and wars and do not deserve to be confined in a penitentiary center».

From the PSOE it is emphasized that, although the heads of the Ministry of the Interior «have endeavored» to show the prison of Archidona as a «center without the adjective penitentiary, the Socialist deputies consider» illegal and a real barbarity «this measure adopted by the government that also «violates fundamental rights.»
