Málaga acogerá a 30 migrantes del barco Aquarius. Lo ha anunciado el alcalde de Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, en la mañana de este jueves durante la celebración del día mundial de Refugiado. Además el Ministerio ha cedido un terreno en el Puerto para habilitar un centro de atención médica para los inmigrantes que lleguen a las cotas malagueñas.
Málaga se convierte en una de las ciudades españolas que acogerá migrantes de la embarcación Aquarius que llegaron este pasado domingo a Valencia tras la negativa de Italia y Malta de acogerlos.
El alcalde, Francisco de la Torre, ha informado que 30 personas se trasladarán a la ciudad, sin precisar como será el procedimiento.
Junto a concejales de los diferentes grupos políticos municipales y varios representantes de las entidades malagueñas de cooperación internacional e inmigración, De la Torre ha asistido a la lectura de un manifiesto por parte de un refugiado sirio.
Se han ondeando las banderas a media asta y guardado un minuto de silencio en recuerdo a las muertes de las personas refugiadas acaecidas en el Mediterráneo. En el acto, se ha recordado que España solo ha socorrido a 12 personas de las 17.000 que tenía previstas acoger.
El alcalde de Málaga ha asegurado que está abierto a todos y cada uno de los que vengan a la provincia malagueña.
El presidente de Cruz Roja Española, Javier Senent, ha considerado fundamental conocer las expectativas de los migrantes, dónde quieren ir, qué pueden hacer o en qué campo les gustaría trabajar, porque eso facilitaría su inserción laboral y social, al tiempo que ha abogado por trabajar con los países de origen.
La lectura del manifiesto ha terminado pidiendo un compromiso por parte del municipio sobre la necesidad de construir desde lo local un espacio de convivencia, de integración y de solidaridad con las personas refugiadas.
