El presidente de Ciudadanos, Albert Rivera, ha asegurado que su formación votará no a que Miquel Iceta presida el Senado, pero que no bloquearán el funcionamiento del parlamento catalán. Rivera ha culpado a Iceta de haber defendido los indultos, el referéndum de independencia y el pacto con los separatistas y que es por ello por lo que votarán en su contra en el Senado. Rivera ha asegurado que Iceta «no es la persona adecuada para liderar una Camara que debería defender la igualdad». En la misma línea, el líder de Ciudadanos ha destacado que Iceta representa el privilegio que el PSOE quiere conceder a los nacionalistas y que «no se esconde».
