La ministra de Trabajo y Pensiones de Reino Unido, Amber Rudd, ofrece su apoyo a Jeremy Hunt en la carrera para suceder a la primera ministra británica, Theresa May. Este mismo domingo, el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores ha asegurado que la canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, estaría dispuesta a renegociar el acuerdo del brexit si el nuevo primer ministro tiene «el enfoque adecuado». Eso sí, Bruselas mantiene su posición de no volver a renegociar ese acuerdo de retirada, cuya fecha está fijada para el 31 de octubre. Hunt ha cargado recientemente contra Boris Johnson, actualmente el favorito para suceder a May, y le ha calificado de «ultrarradical», que llevaría a Reino Unido a obtener «una respuesta ultrarradical» por parte del bloque comunitario.
