Las autoridades de Irán han confirmado este lunes que han empezado a enriquecer uranio por encima del 3,67 por ciento fijado por el acuerdo nuclear firmado en 2015 y han resaltado que llegar al 20 por ciento es una opción. El portavoz del Organismo para la Energía Nuclear de Irán ha señalado que «el 20 por ciento no es ahora necesario, pero se producirá si así se quiere». El Gobierno de Irán ha asegurado que se desvinculará progresivamente del acuerdo cada 60 días si Europa no toma «nuevas iniciativas» para garantizar la plena reincorporación de la República Islámica a los mercados internacionales. En este sentido, el ministro de Exteriores iraní SEÑALABA el domingo que lo ocurrido no es una violación del acuerdo, sino el inicio de una «segunda fase de medidas correctivas» estipuladas en el artículo 36 del Plan Integral de Acción Conjunta, el nombre oficial del acuerdo.
