La UEFA se ha decantado finalmente por Sevilla. El estadio olímpico de la cartuja de la ciudad hispalense será una de las sedes de la Eurocopa de fútbol que se celebrará del 11 de junio al 11 de julio. El estadio acogerá los partidos de España de la primera fase de grupos así como un choque de los octavos de final del torneo. Los cuatro partidos iniciales iban a disputarse en el estadio de San Mamés de Bilbao. La Junta de Andalucía ha anunciado su intención de permitir la entrada de espectadores hasta completar el 30% del aforo total del estadio. El campo sevillano acogerá los encuentros de la selección nacional ante Suecia, previsto para el 14 de junio, ante Polonia, el 19 de junio y Eslovaquia el 23 de junio. En octavos de final el partido se celebrará el 27 de junio.
