El Campo de Gibraltar ha sido escenario de un nuevo golpe al narcotráfico. En esta ocasión, el operativo policial se ha desarrollado por parte de las autoridades españolas en colaboración con la Agencia Nacional contra el Crimen de Reino Unido. La investigación ha permitido descabezar una organización criminal liderada por un histórico narcotraficante británico en la que se han intervenido más de una tonelada y media de hachís. El líder de la banda residía en una lujosa urbanización de la provincia de Cádiz, era un ex miembro de la Royal Navy y se dedicaba al transporte de la droga por vía marítima aprovechando los conocimientos náuticos que tenía. El investigado contaba con varias empresas dedicadas a la compraventa y alquiler de embarcaciones que utilizaba para realizar los transportes de hachís creando sociedades pantalla para blanquear el dinero procedente del tráfico de estupefacientes. la operación se ha saldado con un total de 10 personas detenidas en Ceuta y las provincias de Cádiz y Málaga. En los registros, los agentes han intervenido más de 5.800 euros en efectivo, una pistola táser, armas blancas y un dron, además de cinco vehículos de alta gama, dos yates y un velero.
