Acaba agosto y la principal industria de la provincia de Málaga, el turismo, hace balance del principal mes para el sector. Y en un año en el que el mercado nacional ha empujado más que el extrnajero, destaca un dato importante: la mayoría de visitantes internacionales a la Costa del Sol han sido franceses. Francia desbanca al Reino Unido como principal país emisor de turistas al litoral malagueño. En concreto, 43.000 franceses se alojaron en los hoteles y apartamentos de la provincia en el primer semestre del año, según los datos que maneja Turismo Costa del Sol. Le siguen ingleses, 25.265, holandeses, con 19.533 viajeros y alemanes, con 15.492 viajeros. El mercado francés no sólo se coloca en primera posición sino que es el que más crece: un 93% respecto al mismo periodo del año pasado. En relación a las previsiones de llegadas de turistas franceses al aeropuerto de Málaga, los datos también demuestran la fortaleza de estos turistas. Para el segundo trimestre del año se han programado nada más y nada menos que 166.000 plazas de avión para vuelos entre aeropuertos franceses y el aeródromo malagueño. El presidente de Turismo Costa del Sol, Francisco Salado, dice que este, es un mercado estratégico y por ello, el patronato estará presente en la feria internacional de turismo que se celebrará del 5 al 8 de octubre en París, y que es una de las citas obligadas del sector.
