La recuperación de la actividad turística es una realidad a tenor de los datos del Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE). Según este informe, en la provincia de Málaga, hay un aumento destacado de viajeros en campamentos turísticos y establecimientos rurales en los cinco primeros meses del año. Los viajeros alojados en campamentos turísticos suben en un 56% entre enero y mayo de este año en relación con el mismo periodo de 2019, antes de la pandemia. Un total de 94.398 viajeros se han alojado en este tipo de establecimientos en la provincia en este periodo. Los turistas nacionales crecieron un 55% y los extranjeros, un 57%. También han crecido los viajeros alojados en establecimientos rurales entre enero y mayo de este año un 51% respecto a las cifras de este periodo en 2019. En esta ocasión, el turismo nacional sube un 82% mientras que el internacional un 29%. El presidente de Turismo Costa del Sol, Francisco Salado, se ha mostrado satisfecho y afirma que se mantiene la tendencia de crecimiento del sector en la provincia.
