Los primeros datos de la investigación apuntan a que un golpe de mar de costado e imprevisto provocó el naufragio del pesquero Bahía Isleta que se hundió este jueves frente a la costa de Níjar, en Almería. En el hundimiento del barco murió su patrón, un marinero experimentado de 50 años. Los otros dos tripulantes a bordo de la embarcación pudieron alcanzar la playa de los Escullos a nado con ayuda de una boya pero, según relataron, el patrón quedó atrapado en el puente de mando. Según ha informado la Guardia Civil, que llevó a cabo el rescate ya sin vida del patrón, la embarcación se encontraba prácticamente sumergida en una zona cuya profundidad ronda los 30 metros. La escasa estabilidad y el exceso de peso unido a las malas condiciones del mar hicieron que los rescatistas desecharon la idea de reflotar el barco. No obstante, la Capitanía marítima de Almería ha ordenado el reflotamiento del pesquero para evitar riesgos de contaminación en una operación de la que se hará cargo Salvamento Marítimo.
