Javier Ortega Smith, rechaza condenar expresamente el franquismo. En una entrevista concedida a Europa Press, el Secretario General de Vox dice que no es quien para condenar ni el franquismo ni ninguna otra parte de la historia, negándose a ejercer de «tribunal de la censura», ha dicho. A su juicio, en todo hecho histórico hay «luces y sombras» y solo los «sectarios» se atreven a negarlo. Y pone como ejemplo «el resurgimiento» de la economía española durante la dictadura o la red de pantanos y carreteras.
