El aluvión de la nueva colada se bifurca en varios cauces que avanzan a gran velocidad, a cinco metros por segundo en algunas zonas: en Las Manchas, en los aledaños de Montaña Rajada y Montaña Cogote. Desde cualquier ángulo se aprecia la rapidez con que avanza una riada ardiente y muy fluida. Tiene su origen en una zona muy profunda bajo el cono. «Hace que los materiales sean ligeramente diferentes desde el punto de vista químico y más fluidos y a mayor temperatura», explica Vicente Soler, vulcanólogo del CSIC. Así lo constatan los miembros de la UME que tomaban muestras de la nueva colada. Viene de una nueva fisura abierta en la ladera sur, y en su trayectoria arrasa varias viviendas de una zona de exclusión donde antes solo había ceniza. A vista de dron apreciamos hoy la magnitud del desastre. La nueva colada está inmóvil pero sepulta la urbanización situada junto a la planta fotovoltaica. En muchas viviendas apenas se divisan los tejados. El volcán vuelve a rugir con fiereza, arrojando ahora lava que vuelve a discurrir sobre coladas ya existentes.
