🔴Noticia – La EMA da luz verde a un medicamento contra el Covid-19

Nuevo paso en la lucha contra el coronavirus. Este jueves la Agencia Europea del Medicamento ha dado el visto bueno a un medicamento contra el covid-19. Se trata de un antiviral desarrollado por Pfizer llamado Paxlovid. La pastilla servirá para adultos que no requieren oxígeno suplementario y que tienen un mayor riesgo de que la enfermedad se agrave. Este nuevo fármaco contiene dos principios activos que se administran en dos comprimidos diferentes que deben tomarse una vez cada 24 horas durante cinco días. El primer activo reduce la capacidad del virus para multiplicarse en el organismo mientras que el segundo prolonga la acción del primero por más tiempo dentro del cuerpo. Este medicamento ha sido probado en voluntarios enfermos de covid y los resultados, según la EMA, revelan la eficacia de este fármaco en estos sujetos. Tan solo el 0,8% de los pacientes que recibieron este antiviral estuvieron hospitalizados más de 24 horas y además no se registraron muertes entre los que recibieron Paxlovid. En otro grupo de ensayo, los sujetos recibieron placebo y en este grupo, en cambio, se produjeron nueve muertes. España ha adquirido 344.000 dosis del medicamento que se sumarán a las que reciba una vez que la Unión Europea adquiera de forma centralizada el antiviral.
