El Hospital Regional de Málaga es el único de toda Andalucía que participará en el ensayo de la vacuna española contra el Covid-19. Este martes, la Agencia Española de Medicamentos autorizaba esta nueva fase que supone probar la vacuna en 3.000 voluntarios de todo el país. En la investigación participan 15 hospitales españoles y varios de Portugal e Italia. El hospital malagueño ha anunciado que ya ha empezado a reclutar a esas personas. El estudio quiere confirmar que la inmunización de refuerzo con la vacuna de Hipra puede ampliar la protección frente a nuevas variantes y prolongar el efecto preventivo de la vacunación. Las personas que quieran participar en el ensayo deben haber recibido una o dos dosis de las vacunas que ya se han suministrado en España, como Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca o Janssen. También podrán participar aquellos que se hayan contagiado hace al menos un mes y que no hayan precisado ingreso hospitalario. La Agencia Española de Medicamento da este nuevo paso tras comprobar que la Fase IIb ha demostrado una buena tolerancia por parte de los sujetos. Este organismo también señala que la vacuna que desarrolla la farmacéutica catalana Hipra ha resultado ser segura y eficaz frente a otras variantes, incluida la ómicron. Esta fase 3 es el último paso antes de su comercialización que se producirá si los resultados siguen siendo positivos.
