🔴Noticia – Andalucía recupera una obra del siglo XVII

La consejera de Cultura y Patrimonio Histórico de la Junta de Andalucía, Patricia del Pozo, ha presentado este lunes en el Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla la «sobresaliente recuperación» del lienzo de Alonso Cano ‘Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi’ (1628), adquirido por el Ejecutivo de la comunidad y que se exhibirá en la sala IV tras su análisis y estudio en el taller de restauración de la pinacoteca hispalense. Del Pozo ha recalcado que se trata de «una sobresaliente recuperación para el patrimonio público de Andalucía, dada la relevancia de Alonso Cano, uno de los grandes artistas del Barroco español, y la singularidad del lienzo, que pudo formar parte del retablo de la iglesia de San Alberto de Sevilla y, con toda probabilidad, fue sustraído durante la invasión napoleónica». La calidad de esta ‘Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi’ hace de ella una pieza especialmente atractiva para mejorar la colección de la pintura sevillana de las primeras décadas del siglo XVII del Bellas Artes hispalense, que solo conserva dos obras de Cano: ‘San Francisco de Borja’ y ‘Ánimas del purgatorio’.

The Minister of Culture and Historical Heritage of the Junta de Andalucía, Patricia del Pozo, presented this Monday at the Museum of Fine Arts in Seville the «outstanding recovery» of Alonso Cano’s canvas ‘Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi’ (1628), acquired by the Executive of the community and that will be exhibited in room IV after its analysis and study in the restoration workshop of the Seville art gallery. Del Pozo has stressed that it is «an outstanding recovery for the public heritage of Andalusia, given the relevance of Alonso Cano, one of the great artists of the Spanish Baroque, and the uniqueness of the canvas, which could have been part of the altarpiece of the church of San Alberto de Sevilla and, in all probability, it was stolen during the Napoleonic invasion». The quality of this ‘Santa María Magdalena de Pazzi’ makes it a particularly attractive piece to improve the Seville Fine Arts collection of Seville painting from the first decades of the 17th century, which only preserves two works by Cano: ‘San Francisco de Borja’ and ‘Animas del purgatorio’.
