Los arroceros sevillanos encaran con mucho sufrimiento la campaña de este año. Así lo expresan los agricultores del sector que aseguran que han tenido que limitar la siembra al 30% por la falta de agua. Y es que la sequía se está cebando con muchos cultivos en Andalucía, sobre todo con aquellos que necesitan grandes cantidades de agua como es el caso del arroz. Los arroceros andaluces dudan sobre si podrán recoger suficiente cosecha como para cubrir gastos. Esto significa conseguir en torno a 6.000 kilos por hectárea, unos 3.000 menos que otros años. En un año normal se recolectan unos 9.000 kilos de arroz por hectárea. Desde la Federación de Arroceros de Sevilla aseguran haber estado en contacto con la Confederación Hidrográfica del Guadalquivir todo el verano para que les concedieran toda el agua posible. Esta situación no es nueva. Llevan años sin poder sembrar el 100% debido a la falta de lluvias pero este año la situación es aún más crítica. El sector arrocero en Andalucía da trabajo a unas 5.000 personas cada año.
