La PolicÃa Nacional ha irrumpido este miércoles en el Ayuntamiento de la localidad barcelonesa de Sitges. Los agentes han irrumpido en el edificio municipal y se han llevado detenida a la alcaldesa, Aurora Carbonell, de ERC. Esta redada responde a una operación que investiga una presunta corrupción en la concesión de subvenciones municipales a entidades sociales, entre los años 2017 y 2022. Además de la alcaldesa, también han sido detenidos el concejal, Jaume Monasterio, también de ERC, y tres técnicos del Consistorio. El Juzgado de Instrucción número 8 de Vilanova i la Geltrú lleva investigando desde mayo del año pasado a 13 personas, entre ellas la alcaldesa y ocho concejales, por los presuntos delitos de prevaricación, malversación y falsedad documental. Desde el Ayuntamiento de Sitges aseguran que se investigó internamente las subvenciones a entidades sociales presuntamente irregulares, sin apreciar responsabilidades administrativas ni penales, aunque señalan que iniciaron el proceso para que devolvieran el dinero aquellas que no estaban justificadas.
