La intensidad del tráfico y la velocidad en estas vÃas hace que sea más seguro utilizar esta señal luminosa. Peatones, motoristas y ciclistas suponen casi la mitad de los muertos en accidentes de tráfico, 900 personas. Pero en ciudades los datos se reducen. La explicación está en la limitación de 30 kilómetros por hora. Año tras año se repiten las mismas causas de accidentes: distracciones, exceso de velocidad y alcohol y drogas. Aunque también han detectado que la somnolencia está detrás de demasiados siniestros.
