El Consejo General del Poder Judicial (CGPJ) cumple este 4 de diciembre 5 años caducado, los mismos años que de mandato vigente, lo que supone una situación inédita que desde dentro califican ya de «insostenible» tanto para el propio órgano como para la Justicia. Este Consejo se constituyó el 4 de diciembre de 2013 con los 20 vocales que marca la ley más el presidente elegido por ellos, Carlos Lesmes, con una mayorÃa conservadora. A lo largo de los años, el órgano de gobierno de los jueces se ha ido descomponiendo, quedando ya solo quedan 16 vocales –aunque se mantiene el dominio conservador. Más allá del desprestigio institucional, que es ya un clamor en el mundo judicial, la situación de interinidad del CGPJ ha tenido un claro impacto en la administración de justicia por la imposibilidad legal de que un Consejo caducado realice nombramientos discrecionales en los altos tribunales, de los que en total hay 85 vacantes en la cúpula judicial.
