Sevilla será finalmente la sede de la futura Agencia Espacial Española. El Gobierno de España lo ha anunciado este lunes en rueda de prensa tras la celebración del Consejo de Ministros. Según la portavoz del Ejecutivo, Isabel Rodríguez, la capital andaluza reunía todos los requisitos que las ciudades candidatas debían reunir. La sede se ubicará en el Centro de Recursos Empresariales, el CREA, un edificio ubicado en el barrio de San Jerónimo con más de 3.300 metros cuadrados y listo para albergar a los 60 trabajadores que pondrán en marcha la Agencia. Por su parte, el alcalde de Sevilla, Antonio Muñoz, se ha mostrado muy feliz por la elección de la ciudad. La candidatura había recibido el respaldo de la propia Junta de Andalucía. Precisamente el portavoz del gobierno autonómico, Ramón Fernández Pacheco, ha celebrado la elección de Sevilla como una magnífica noticia aunque no ha tardado en criticar que el Gobierno central haya excluido a Granada para acoger la sede de la Agencia Estatal de Inteligencia Artificial que al final estará en La Coruña. Pacheco dice que no hay razones de peso para excluir a Granada.
