Miles de personas residentes en poblaciones de las montañas situadas en el noroeste de Nepal han pasado a la intemperie las últimas horas, incluida la noche, después de que un terremoto haya destruido prácticamente la totalidad de sus hogares y haya dejado un trágico balance de al menos 157 muertos. Los habitantes de la región, ahora sin un lugar donde guarecerse del frío, han tratado de construir refugios utilizando plásticos y ropa vieja. La mayoría no ha podido acceder a lo que queda de sus viviendas para recoger sus enseres debido a los escombros. La mayoría de las víctimas en el seísmo fueron aplastadas al venirse abajo sus casas con el temblor. Las carreteras de la zona también han quedado bloqueadas tras el terremoto. Thousands of people residing in mountain towns located in northwest Nepal have spent the last few hours, including the night, outdoors after an earthquake has destroyed practically all of their homes and left a tragic toll of at least 157 dead. The inhabitants of the region, now without a place to shelter from the cold, have tried to build shelters using plastic and old clothing. The majority have not been able to access what remains of their homes to collect their belongings due to the debris. Most of the victims in the earthquake were crushed when their houses collapsed in the tremor. Roads in the area have also been blocked after the earthquake. The Government is trying to mobilize an aid operation to the affected areas, as confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
