La mortalidad infantil disminuye casi un 70% en America Latina y el Caribe

Español: La tasa de mortalidad infantil en América Latina y el Caribe se ha reducido un 67 por ciento en 25 años, según indica un nuevo informe presentado por Unicef.
Con una tasa de mortalidad infantil de 18 por cada 1.000 nacimientos, la región ha logrado alcanzar el objetivo de Unicef.
Hace 15 años, el número de muertes infantiles por cada 1.000 nacimientos era de 54.
México, con una tasa de mortalidad infantil de 13 por cada 1.000 nacimientos se encuentra entre los países latinoamericanos que más han disminuido sus cifras. Otros de los estados que han logrado lo propuesto son El Salvador, Perú, Venezuela, Colombia, Brasil y Argentina.
Por países, el informe destaca que Angola, en África, es el país en el que se da una tasa de mortalidad infantil mayor (de 157 por cada mil nacimientos). En el lado opuesto, Islandia, Luxemburgo y Finlandia comparten el honor de ser los países en los que la tasa es más baja, con dos muertes por cada mil nacimientos.
A nivel global, América Latina y el Caribe es la segunda región a nivel mundial que ha reducido la mortalidad en niños, únicamente superada por Asia Oriental, donde ha disminuido un 79 por ciento en 15 años.
