Se cumplen 21 años del desastre del Prestige. Un 13 de noviembre de hace 21 años España se enfrentaba a la peor catástrofe natural de su historia. El Prestige, un petrolero con bandera de Bahamas, se partía por la mitad cerca de las costas de Galicia. Un total de 63.000 toneladas de fuel terminaron en el mar. Tras varios intentos infructuosos de alejar el buque de las costas españolas, el chapapote afectó a casi 3.000 kilómetros de litoral, con más de 1.000 playas afectadas en Galicia, Francia y Portugal. Una marea blanca de 300.000 voluntarios inundaros las costas gallegas recogiendo chapapote. El incidente también propició la creación de la famosa plataforma Nunca Mais. Los daños sobre la flora y la fauna fueron incontables. El chapapote tiñó de negro más de 450.000 metros cuadrados de tierra. Se calcula que hubo 200.000 aves muertas; por no hablar de las especies marinas: mejillón, lapas, almejas, erizos de mar, percebes, cigalas… La actividad pesquera se tuvo que parar durante ocho meses.
