La Junta de Andalucía y el Ayuntamiento de Málaga han firmado este viernes un acuerdo para desarrollar un proyecto en el río Guadalmedina a su paso por la ciudad que cambie la imagen que presenta actualmente el cauce. Ambas administraciones se han comprometido a colaborar para acometer la restauración ambiental y paisajística del río. El Ayuntamiento se encargará del proyecto desde el Puente de Armiñán hasta la desembocadura en el mar y la Junta lo hará desde dicho puente hasta la presa del Limonero. El gobierno regional pondrá 7,6 millones de euros para unas obras permitirán ganar 300.000 metros cuadrados de zonas verdes para los malagueños. Así al menos lo ha dicho la consejera de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Junta, Carmen Crespo, quien ha asistido a la firma del convenio de colaboración junto al consejero de la Presidencia, Elías Bendodo, y el alcalde de Málaga, Francisco de la Torre. El regidor ha manifestado los años de lucha para que este proyecto saliera adelante y que ahora, con el PP en el gobierno andaluz, ha sido posible. Entre las actuaciones que contempla el proyecto está la plantación de 105.000 plantas y árboles a lo largo de todo el tramo urbano del río así como la construcción de cuatro diques para corregir el cauce en caso de lluvias torrenciales también se crearán 27 kilómetros de caminos y sendas peatonales con áreas de descanso y dos miradores. Además, según ha detallado el alcalde de la ciudad, se creará una pasarela que conecte el futuro parque junto al río con el Jardín botánico.
