Desde el próximo mes de abril la línea regular marítima entre Málaga y Melilla cambiará de beneficiario y es que Balearia se queda con las tres líneas de mar de Alborán, las correspondientes a las conexiones entre Melilla y Almería, Motril y Málaga. La naviera deberá realizar seis viajes semanales y una serie de navegaciones de refuerzo, según el acuerdo estatal, que se realizarán en Navidad, Semana Santa y otras fechas señaladas. En cuanto a las tarifas de viaje, el contrato señala que los precios de los camarotes oscilarán entre los 45 y 180 euros y además deberá ofrecer descuentos del 50% a los menores de 12 años y del 20% a los mayores de 60. La naviera destaca en aguas malacitanas por ser la primera que ha operado con buques propulsados con gas natural licuado, lo que le convierte en la pionera en repostaje de este combustible en el puerto de Málaga
