Este lunes se han realizado las primeras pruebas de la llegada del suburbano desde la estación de Guadalmedina hasta la de Atarazanas, en plena Alameda Principal. Unas pruebas a las que han asistido el presidente de la Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, la consejera de Fomento, Marifrán Carazo, el consejero de la presidencia, Elías Bendodo, y el concejal de Economía y Hacienda del Ayuntamiento de Málaga, Carlos Conde. Según ha indicado el presidente andaluz, las pruebas marchan según lo previsto por lo que si se cumple el calendario establecido, en el mes de mayo finalizarán todas las pruebas. En cuanto a su puesta en servicio, los responsables públicos no han querido mojarse demasiado aunque creen que para la Feria de Málaga, que se celebra en agosto, los malagueños podrían ir al Cortijo de Torres en metro. Juanma Moreno ha aprovechado para señalar el impulso que desde la Junta se ha realizado al otro ramal que está en proyecto y que acercará el metro hasta el Hospital Civil y el Tercer Hospital de Málaga desde la estación de Guadalmedina. Un trayecto correspondiente a la línea 2 y cuyo proyecto ya está en fase de redacción por lo que está previsto que en 2023 se licite la obra. La previsión es que esta prolongación de la línea 2 esté lista a finales de 2027.
