El Pleno del Ayuntamiento de Málaga ha aprobado por unanimidad instar a la Fundación Unicaja a que cese al actual presidente, Braulio Medel. En concreto, se solicita a la entidad que encargue un informe a una empresa independiente para que se pronuncie expresamente sobre si el cargo que ostenta Medel, reúne los requisitos para ocupar dicho puesto. La iniciativa fue planteada por el PSOE y apoyada por todos los grupos. Además, el Pleno muestra el firme compromiso para defender que Unicaja Banco mantenga su sede social así como su actividad principal en Málaga. Según la viceportavoz municipal del PSOE, Begoña Medina, desde que se produjo la fusión de Unicaja con Liberbank, numerosas entidades sociales y organizaciones mostraron su preocupación por los cambios que estaban aconteciendo en la empresa.

The plenary session of the Malaga City Council has unanimously approved urging the Unicaja Foundation to dismiss the current president, Braulio Medel.
