El consejero de Medio Ambiente, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco ha visitado este jueves Júzcar para presentar la segunda fase del plan de recuperación de Sierra Bermeja. De este modo, la Junta de Andalucía se hará cargo de la restauración de esta zona que quedó afectada por incendios forestales en 2021 y 2022. Los trabajos comenzarán el próximo lunes y cuentan con una inversión de 2,4 millones de euros. La zona de actuación comprende ocho montes públicos que corresponden a los términos municipales de Casares, Estepona, Genalguacil, Jubrique, Igualeja y Pujerra. En total, una zona de más de 7.000 hectáreas donde se realizarán diferentes intervenciones. Entre ellas destaca la retirada de vegetación muerta y la reutilización de estos residuos vegetales para construir la infraestructura necesaria que evite la erosión del suelo y ayude a retener el agua de la lluvia. Además, se repoblará la zona con 10.000 plantas de pinsapos, se mejorarán los accesos y se harán labores de poda de los alcornocales afectados. Esta segunda fase comienza dos meses después de que concluyera la primera que contó con un presupuesto de 4,6 millones de euros y que intervino en un área más pequeña de 2.700 hectáreas de monte en los términos municipales de Casares, Estepona, Genalguacil y Jubrique.
