España y Arabia Saudí crearán una empresa conjunta para los futuros programas navales

España y Arabia Saudí han acordado crear una empresa conjunta para desarrollar los futuros programas navales en el país árabe mediante la firma de un memorando de acuerdo entre la empresa pública española Navantia y la saudí Sami.

Así se acordó la tarde de este jueves tras la reunión que mantuvieron en La Moncloa el presidente del Gobierno, Mariano Rajoy, y el príncipe heredero saudí, Mohamed bin Salmán.

Ambas delegaciones firmaron varios acuerdos y memorandos de entendimiento relativos a Defensa, transporte aéreo o en el ámbito cultural y científico.

Arabia Saudí y España tienen pendiente desde hace dos años la firma de la venta de cinco corbetas que construirá la española Navantia en los astilleros de Ferrol y Cádiz.

La operación está valorada en unos 2.000 millones de euros y los trabajos supondrían unos siete millones de horas de trabajo.

Por su parte, el presidente provincial del PP de Cádiz, Antonio Sanz, calificó este jueves de «día histórico» y habló de «compromiso definitivo» sobre la construcción de estas cinco corbetas para Arabia Saudí por parte de los astilleros de la Bahía gaditana.

Además, señaló que se trata del «contrato exterior más importante de la historia de los astilleros de Cádiz».

Spain and Saudi Arabia have agreed to create a joint venture to develop future naval programs in the Arab country by signing a memorandum of understanding between the Spanish public company Navantia and the Saudi Sami.

Both delegations signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding regarding defense, air transport or in the cultural and scientific field.

Saudi Arabia and Spain have been pending for two years the signing of the sale of five corvettes that will build the Spanish Navantia in the shipyards of Ferrol and Cádiz.

The operation is valued at around 2,000 million euros and the works would involve some seven million hours of work.

For his part, the provincial president of the PP of Cádiz, Antonio Sanz, called Thursday «historical day» and spoke of «final commitment» on the construction of these five corvettes for Saudi Arabia by the shipyards of the Bay of Cadiz.

In addition, he noted that it is the «most important foreign contract in the history of the Cadiz shipyards.»
