El presidente de Irán asegura que las exportaciones de petróleo de la República Islámica han mejorado desde principios de noviembre. Hecho que se produciría a pesar de las sanciones impuestas por Estados Unidos, dirigidas contra su sector petrolero, desde el abandono del acuerdo nuclear en mayo. El Gobierno estadounidense lo hizo con el objetivo de intentar reducir a cero sus exportaciones de crudo. Las tensiones han aumentado entre Irán y Estados Unidos desde que el presidente norteamericano, Donald Trump, anunció en mayo la retirada del pacto nuclear firmado en 2015 por la República Islámica y el grupo 5+1, Estados Unidos, Rusia, China, Francia, Reino Unido y Alemania. El mandatario estadounidense justificó la salida del pacto con el argumento de que no imponía restricciones al programa de desarrollo de misiles balísticos de Irán ni a su influencia en la región de Oriente Próximo, con intervención en países como Siria, Yemen, Líbano e Irak.
