Noticia – EEUU y Arabia Saudí abogan por la paz en Yemen

El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, Mike Pompeo, y el príncipe heredero de Arabia Saudí, Mohamed bin Salman, han coincidido en que la firma de una solución política «es la única manera de terminar el conflicto» de Yemen y han abogado por reducir los enfrentamientos. Ambos han señalado la importancia de que se cumplan los acuerdos suscritos en Suecia entre las distintas partes implicadas en la guerra de Yemen. Bin Salman y Pompeo han subrayado la importancia de respetar el alto el fuego en torno a la ciudad de Hodeida, puerta de entrada de suministros y ayuda humanitaria. Pompeo, que también se ha visto con el rey Salman, ha calificado de «muy bueno» el encuentro con su hijo y heredero, con quien ha hablado de «muchos asuntos». El jefe de la diplomacia norteamericana ha citado también Irán y Afganistán entre los temas tratados y ha agradecido el apoyo saudí al proceso de paz de Yemen y a las negociaciones abiertas con los talibán en Afganistán.
