El expresidente de la Generalitat Carles Puigdemont se ha comprometido a volver a Cataluña si es elegido eurodiputado en las elecciones del próximo mayo al asegurar que con el acta tendría «inmunidad» en toda la Unión Europea, incluido en España. En una entrevista en radio en Cataluña, ha asegurado que la inmunidad empieza cuando uno es elegido eurodiputado, y más concretamente cuando el Gobierno comunica los resultados de las elecciones. Ha explicado que si el Parlamento Europeo valida su elección y se activa su inmunidad, tendrá que decidir qué acta elige al tener también la del Parlamento catalán.
