La socialista Meritxell Batet Lamaña ha sido elegida presidenta del Congreso en la segunda votación celebrada en la sesión constitutiva de la Cámara, imponiéndose a la candidatura de la actual titular, Ana Pastor. Meritxell Batet, candidata pactada por PSOE y Unidas Podemos, ha logrado un total de 175 votos, lo que implica que ha sumado también apoyos de PNV y de formaciones minoritarias como Coalición Canaria, el PRC y Compromís. Ana Pastor, promovida por el PP, se ha quedado en 125 votos, los del PP más los de Ciudadanos y UPN. También se han registrado 35 votos en blanco, fundamentalmente de Vox y de Junts per Catalunya; y 15 nulos, la opción de ERC y Bildu
