El editor malagueño de cómics, El Torres, se lamenta del plagio de dos de sus obras

Español:El problema de los plagios es que las coincidencias pueden existir y son difíciles de demostrar. Pero cuando estamos ante títulos similares, cuando no idénticos, argumentos parecidos y una estética demasiado coincidente, las sospechas son más que fundadas.

Eso ha ocurrido no con 1, sino con 2 cómics del guionista y editor malagueño Juan Torres, conocido como El Torres: en primer lugar con la película británica The Forest, que en España se estrenará como El bosque de los suicidios y que, como puede comprobarse en su tráiler, no tiene sólo un nombre casi exacto al del cómic que publicó en 2011 bajo el nombre “El bosque de los suicidas”.
Pero lo curioso es que, tan sólo unos días después, El Torres comprueba que hay otra película de terror, esta vez americana, con el mismo título que su cómic de 2010 llamado “el velo”, “the veil” en inglés.

Según reconoce en una entrevista que publica la revista Cinemanía, El Torres pasa entonces de la absoluta perplejidad a la impotencia al comprobar que hay escenas exactamente iguales a ciertas viñetas de sus respectivos cómics en ambas películas. ¿Y Qué hacer ante una situación así? Los expertos le han desaconsejado plantearles a las productoras una demanda por plagio: primero por los costes que podría conllevar, y segundo porque hay diferencias en las historias y nada garantiza que, tras un largo proceso, un juez pueda darle la razón.
Aunque no es algo de lo que se hable habitualmente, el malagueño ha comprobado en sus propias carnes que este tipo de cosas son frecuentes por parte de los estudios, que se valen sobre todo de ideas de escritores y dibujantes independientes, sin capacidad económica para plantearles una demanda por plagio.
Pero lo que más llama la atención es que precisamente los 2 cómics de El Torres, tanto The Veil como El bosque de los suicidas, son obras bastante conocidas y premiadas, que se han vendido y continúan vendiéndose bastante bien, incluso en Reino Unido y Estados Unidos, donde se han hecho las películas.
El Torres se muestra así resignado ante lo ocurrido. Esperemos que ya que no va a recibir dinero por los derechos de sus cómics, al menos la emisión de estas películas pueda servir para que muchos se interesen por la obra de este gran maestro del cómic.
