El ministro de Defensa ruso, Sergei Shoigu, ha anunciado que Rusia y Siria han suspendido los ataques aéreos en la zona de Alepo a partir de las 10.00 horas de este martes.

Shoigú ha atribuido la decisión de esta «suspensión anticipada» de los bombardeos a la necesidad de establecer una pausa humanitaria este jueves, 20 de octubre. Esto «permitirá garantizar una salida segura de civiles por seis corredores y preparar la evacuación de enfermos y heridos de la parte oriental de Alepo», ha explicado.

Occidente responsabiliza a Damasco y sus aliados de la escalada de hostilidades en Alepo, una violencia que, según la Oficina de Naciones Unidas para la Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios (OCHA), ha provocado más de 400 muertos y casi 1.400 heridos desde que el Ejército sirio relanzó su operación contra los terroristas del Frente al Nusra y los grupos rebeldes en el este de Alepo.

El Gobierno ruso ha subrayado en repetidas ocasiones que el Ejército de Siria ha sido el único que acató las condiciones del alto el fuego de septiembre y que el mundo no debe ceder al chantaje de los terroristas que retienen a los civiles como escudos humanos en el este de Alepo.
