Noticia – Verónica Membrive recoge el premio George Campbell del Aula María Zambran

El Aula María Zambrano de Estudios Transatlánticos de la Universidad de Málaga ha resuelto como ganadora del Premio George Campbell el trabajo de Verónica Membrive Pérez, de la Universidad de Almería, centrado en el análisis de las obras de los escritores irlandeses Pearse Hutchinson y Aidan Higgins.

La comisión de evaluación destaca el carácter científico y la profundidad con la que se aborda un tema de gran interés no solo para el estudio de las influencias recíprocas en la literatura sino para el mayor entendimiento de las relaciones hispano-irlandesas y de la cultura de ambos países.

Verónica Membrive Pérez, autora del trabajo, es doctora por la Universidad de Almería y docente de inglés en esta misma universidad. Su campo de investigación se centra en la literatura irlandesa, con especial atención a las relaciones culturales entre España e Irlanda.

Con una dotación económica de 1.200 euros, el Premio George Campbell está destinado a investigadores cuyos trabajos se enfoquen a las relaciones entre España e Irlanda en cualquier ámbito, en el periodo comprendido entre 1965 hasta la actualidad.

Este premio debe su nombre a uno de los pintores irlandeses más destacados, nacido en Arklow, quien convirtió la ciudad de Málaga en su segunda patria, donde pasó más de seis meses al año.

The Aula María Zambrano of Transatlantic Studies of the University of Malaga has decided as winner of the George Campbell Prize the work of Verónica Membrive Pérez, from the University of Almería, focused on the analysis of the works of the Irish writers Pearse Hutchinson and Aidan Higgins.

The evaluation commission highlights the scientific nature and depth with which a topic of great interest is addressed not only for the study of reciprocal influences in literature but also for the greater understanding of Spanish-Irish relations and the culture of both countries

Verónica Membrive Pérez, author of the work, is a doctor from the University of Almería and an English teacher at this same university. His field of research focuses on Irish literature, with special attention to cultural relations between Spain and Ireland.

With an economic endowment of 1,200 euros, the George Campbell Award is intended for researchers whose work focuses on relations between Spain and Ireland in any field, in the period from 1965 to the present.

This award owes its name to one of the most outstanding Irish painters, born in Arklow, who turned the city of Malaga into his second homeland, where he spent more than six months a year.
