Las conversaciones sobre el futuro de Siria han arrancado este lunes en presencia de las delegaciones del Gobierno de Bashar al Assad y los rebeldes sirios.

No obstante, según una fuente rebelde, no habrá conversaciones directas entre la delegación insurgente y la enviada por Damasco. La delegación opositora ha dejado claro que «no entrará en discusiones políticas» con el Gobierno sirio durante las mismas.

En una declaración leída a los participantes al inicio del encuentro, el presidente de Kazajistán, Nursultán Nazarbayev, ha considerado que la reunión «generará las condiciones necesarias para que todas las partes implicadas hallen una solución adecuada a la crisis siria en el marco del proceso de Ginebra bajo tutela de la ONU y ofrecerá un aporte digno a la causa de la paz y estabilidad en Siria».
